I need to find my notes regarding the next chapters. Given hectic RL it might take a while before an update.
I've been into mythology for a long time and recently i've spent some time reading books that incorporate or involve in some way the old gods. There was Terra Lynn Childs' Goddess series and Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, and Gods Behaving Badly - all left me wanting. There's also Neil Gaiman's Amercian Gods (which I'm yet to finish) and Greg van Eekhout, Nancy Farmer, Joanne Harris (Runemarks). But what has been keeping me interested is the new New Zelaland's tv series 'The Almighty Johnsons' about the reincarnated Norse gods. It's pretty good, the actors are not hollywood pretty but they are fine and the acting is really good. I like the plots and hope to see more of it. I really really hope it gets to run its course.
Here's the trailer:

(I'm still hoping to find something about the Slavic gods or folklore though...)

comments

I have a very bad habit of starting a lot of books at the same time. I'm hoping to finish most of the ones I've started last year in this new year. Books I've started but didn't finish this year are below. There were sadly a lot of those. Some I just forgot about, others I'm tempted to just give up on, but most I just wasn't feeling in the mood for at the moment.

Ten books from the above will be abandoned but that still leaves me around 50 books. That's about the same amount I've read last year! Geez, I need to stop starting new books before finishing or abandoning for good the previously started ones.
Hopefully this list will help me keep track of the books on my reading pile.

comments

I've been browsing various fanfiction archives for the more obscure fandoms and it got me thinking about old tv shows. I used to follow 'Sea Quest DSV' pretty religiously ;). Loved 'Earth 2' as well. I barely remember what they were about though.
More recently I stopped watching House, Grey's Anatomy, NCIS and CSI (the las vegas version). Not much left on my radar anymore. 'Pretty Little Liars' turned out to be pretty fun, 'Detroit 1-8-7', as well, but in a different way, obviously. But there's nothing that I like right now that compared to how much into 'Stargate SG-1' and 'SGA' I used to be. :( Couldn't get into 'Caprica', after rather liking 'BSG'. Am sort of meh on 'True Blood', but will catch up on it. Had to stop watching 'Fringe' for awhile after the grusomness of some of the scenes got too much but will definitely get back to watching it. I do love all the characters on that show which is rare for me. 'Covert Affairs' isn't so bad but it's not that engaging either. I'm hoping the new season will bring some interesting shows. I might give 'Merlin' another try and get back to 'Criminal Minds'... And then there's 'Lost Girl' which is cheesy and a little cheap but fun :).

comments

Given the move of scans daily to dreamwidth I decided to follow as well. (and thanks to sd folks for a dreamwidth invitation code!) So far I plan on keeping my other journal at lj http://triss_neya.livejournal.com as I still use it to post elsewhere and it has the awesome 16 icons for free accounts unlike 6 available here :( So I'm not sure yet how dw will work out compared to lj but it sure beats insane journal.

Though choosing which icons to use here was hard, seriously...

comments
